The TRUTH

When it comes to your recordings, you want honesty. In fact, considering how important your music is, you should demand it! That’s why we designed the B2030P Reference Monitors to speak nothing but the TRUTH. They sound great hooked up to your stereo or your video surround system, and are critical tools for any recording studio—where every note you play or sing is "under the microscope."

Active vs. Passive

Active monitors are designed to take all the guesswork out of matching speakers with amplifiers and crossover networks (among other things), and provide a “turnkey” solution for exceptional sound in the recording studio. We make them, we love them, and we sell truckloads of them! But there is a place for passive studio monitors, too.
Significant applications for passive monitors include surround-sound theater, stereo systems, computer workstations, etc. Or, maybe you have a stack of high-quality power amps just sitting around collecting dust. TRUTH B2030P passive studio monitors are a quantum leap from those bookshelf box speakers you may currently be using.

Built on a Legacy

The TRUTH B2030P passive monitor has all the great features of the TRUTH B2030A active monitor with one exception; you provide the amplification. Due to their high-resolution performance, B2030P 2-way reference studio monitors are perfect for nearfield monitoring applications: from small mixing environments to multi-channel surround setups. Our TRUTH monitors have been so wildly successful that we’ve sold thousands upon thousands of them to some of the most critical ears on the planet.

Don’t Let the Size Fool You

Despite its small size, the TRUTH B2030P provides ultra-linear frequency response from 75 Hz to 21 kHz. The internal crossover point is fixed at 2.3 kHz for optimal performance of the two-way system. And the B2030P can handle input levels up to 100 watts.

Rock-Solid Bass

Bookshelf-style home stereo speakers can really fool you when it comes to bass output, mainly because they are not designed for critical listening applications. That’s why audio/video engineers and producers listen to projects through studio reference monitors or studio-grade headphones. The B2030P’s long-throw 6.75" polypropylene-diaphragm woofer delivers smooth, deep bass all the way down to 75 Hz.

Why the Polypropylene Woofer?

We’re glad you asked. Polypropylene is light and strong, enabling the speaker cone to respond very quickly to fast transient peaks. This low-mass cone material is also much stiffer than paper, important for not only maintaining bass content integrity, but critical for midrange accuracy and definition. The deformation-resistant aluminum die-cast chassis maintains suspension integrity and provides highly efficient voice-coil cooling, even under extreme operating conditions.

Non-Fatiguing, Wide “Sweet Spot”

B2030P’s HF (High Frequency) content comes courtesy of an ultra high-resolution 0.75" ferrofluid-cooled tweeter mounted on our proprietary wave-guide. While some of our competitor’s studio monitors have a highly focused “sweet spot” (the optimal listening position for a pair of loudspeakers), our wave-guide is designed to create a much more generous, broader listening zone. That means you won’t wear a hole in the carpet in that one spot where everything sounds great. You are free to move around inside the stereo image to find the ideal spot in the mix for subtle instrument or effects placement opportunities.
You also won’t suffer the ravages of “monitor fatigue-syndrome,” an ailment that comes from listening to harsh high-mids and treble content for hours on end, even during those all-night mix-down sessions that can really test your nerves.

Hearing is Believing

We could bore you to tears with all the technical jargon (if you like that stuff, you’re sure to enjoy the product spec sheet at the back of the manual), but hearing the TRUTH will make you a believer. We think you’ll agree that nothing in this class outperforms the B2030P monitors. Compare them to the competition and hear the TRUTH!

The TRUTH

When it comes to your studio recordings, you want honesty. In fact, considering how important your art is, you should demand it! That’s why we designed the B2030A Reference Monitors to speak nothing but the TRUTH. Oh, they still sound great hooked up to your stereo or your video surround system, but they were really built with the studio in mind—where every note you play or sing is "under the microscope."

Built on a Legacy

The TRUTH B2030A has all the great features of a standard-sized active TRUTH monitor packed into an even more compact cabinet! Due to their high-resolution performance, B2030A active 2-way reference studio monitors are perfect for nearfield monitoring applications: from small mixing environments to multi-channel surround setups. Our TRUTH B2030A monitors have been so wildly successful that we’ve sold thousands upon thousands of them to some of the most critical ears on the planet.

Don’t Let the Size Fool You

Despite its small size, the TRUTH B2030A can achieve a peak output level in excess of 113 dB SPL. Powered by built-in 80- and 35-Watt amplifiers combined with a high-precision active crossover, these monitors provide ultra-linear frequency response from 50 Hz to 21 kHz.

We Call it a Speaker Graduation Diploma

After final assembly, each B2030A spends up to a half hour with a Calibration Engineer being meticulously tweaked to ensure ultra-linear frequency response.
When you buy a TRUTH B2030A monitor, you’re truly getting a hand-calibrated unit. We ship a calibration certificate with each B2030A that shows the actual frequency response of your monitor, as tested at the time of manufacture.
After all these rigorous tests, only then is the speaker granted its own Graduation Diploma.

Rock-Solid Bass

Bookshelf-style home stereo speakers can really fool you when it comes to bass output, mainly because they are not designed for critical listening applications. That’s why recording engineers and producers listen to projects through studio reference monitors or studio-grade headphones. The B2030A’s long-throw 6.75" polypropylene-diaphragm woofer delivers smooth, deep bass all the way down to 50 Hz. Bass content that isn’t exaggerated, as it can be in home speaker systems. Rock-solid bass that is an honest representation of the recorded sound, full of subtle nuance; the sound of fingers on the strings, or the rush of air through the long pipes of a cathedral organ, etc.

You also won’t suffer the ravages of “monitor fatigue-syndrome,” an ailment that comes from listening to harsh high-mids and treble content for hours on end, even during those all-night mix-down sessions that can really test your nerves.

Expect the Best

We packed 115-Watts of bi-amped technology (including a time- and phase-optimized active crossover) into every B2030A, ensuring that you have the enormous power reserves you’ll need to drive them really hard. The unique BEHRINGER wave-guide and the extremely low-distortion crossover network produce an absolutely linear frequency response with excellent sound dispersion and stereo imaging.

Designed to Work in Your Environment

The ideal environment for listening is a room that is “flat,” neither too reflective (echoes) nor too absorptive (where the sound is muffled). But since all rooms are not the same acoustically, all TRUTH monitors come equipped to function in a wide variety of situations. Switches are provided to adapt the monitor’s low- and high-frequency characteristics for optimal performance specific to your listening environment.

Suited for All Placements

Ideally, all loudspeakers should be placed away from walls to ensure proper bass response. But fear not, B2030A monitors feature Room Compensation switches so you can place them against walls, or even in corners. Walls tend to enhance low-frequency content, and corners exaggerate bass even more, but your TRUTH monitor can be custom-tailored to provide honest bass response for your situation, with the simple flick of a switch or two.

XLR and 1/4" Inputs

The B2030A is equipped with servo-balanced inputs on XLR and ¼” TRS connectors to handle a variety of audio sources. Thanks to its compact size and magnetic shielding, the TRUTH B2030A can be placed near video monitors, computer displays or digital audio workstations.

Hearing is Believing

We could bore you to tears with all the technical jargon (if you like that stuff, you’re sure to enjoy the product spec sheet at the back of the manual), but hearing the TRUTH will make you a believer. We think you’ll agree that nothing in this class outperforms the B2030A monitors. Compare them to any competition and hear the TRUTH!

Reviews

MUSIC TECH
September 2004
We tested the TRUTHs with a variety of music to see if they really do offer as flat a frequency curve as BEHRINGER promises. Ng off with Morrissey’s You Are the Quarry, we noticed a clear, punchy attack, especially in the midrange. […]
Morrissey’s voice was surrounded by space and airiness that you’d expect from a monitor costing a great deal more. This open sound was demonstrated to a greater degree when listening to a Naxos recording of Madam Butterfly: with the monitors showing a great deal of flexibility. Describe the TRUTHs’ sound in a few words? How about, forthright, energetic and flexible? […]
The TRUTHs aren’t going to suit everybody – there’s not a pair of monitors out there that can make that claim – which is why it’s so important to audition them before parting with your cash. But if nothing else, these speakers do deserve to be on that audition list. They proved sturdy, highly capable and, even after six hours in front of them in a single sitting, comfortable when used for extended periods of mixing.
[…] BEHRINGER has pulled off a minor miracle with these TRUTHs – they’re absolutely as good as you could expect for a smidgen over a ton a piece.
Verdict
For the price the new TRUTH is an absolute steal, offering high-quality, unfatiguing monitoring that’ll be hard to beat in terms of value for money.
MUSIC TECH RECOMMENDED AWARD
SOUND ON SOUND
September 2004
If you are on a very tight budget, then the B2030As offer very good value and they can be made to perform perfectly adequately in smaller rooms, provided that you take due care with their placement and experiment with the EQ switch settings.

I think that the designers have used their available manufacturing budget extremely well in producing a useful and good-looking monitor at such a low UK price point […].

Verdict

You generally get what you pay for when it comes to monitors, but these new monitors do seem to offer just a little bit more than you’d expect for the price.

Honesty

When it comes to your studio recordings, you want honesty. In fact, considering how important your art is, you should demand it! That’s why we designed the new B3030A and B3031A Reference Monitors to speak nothing but the TRUTH. Oh, they still sound great hooked up to your stereo or your video surround system, but they were really built with the studio in mind — where every note you play or sing is "under the microscope.

Built on a Legacy

Our TRUTH B2030A and B2031A monitors have been so wildly successful that we’ve sold thousands upon thousands of them to some of the most critical ears on the planet. So, from the moment we started this project, we knew these new speakers would have to be something really special, and indeed they are!

Years of R’n’D

For the past two years our Research and Development team has been on a mission to create the “perfect” studio monitor. Since the TRUTH B2031A had already become the industry standard, our acoustic engineers decided to start there and see just how far they could push the envelope. They tried a variety of transducers and enclosure designs, along with existing and emerging technologies. When all the dust settled, they chose to deploy an ultra-high resolution, 2" velocity ribbon transducer and a long-throw, Kevlar-coned woofer in a deformationresistant, die-cast aluminum chassis.

Why Kevlar?

We’re glad you asked. Kevlar has an incredible strength-to-weight ratio — that’s one reason it’s used in bulletproof vests. Kevlar gives our LF transducer the strength to handle the extremely high energy levels required for distortion-free, chest-pounding bass. And since they have such low mass, Kevlar speaker cones also respond much more quickly than those made of paper, important for not only maintaining bass content integrity, but critical for midrange accuracy and defi nition. Our Kevlar transducers reproduce even the subtlest nuance of the low-frequency realm without muddying the midrange.

What’s With the Funny-Looking Tweeter?

Ribbon tweeters bring a level of accuracy and sophistication to high-resolution studio monitors that was previously unattainable. They provide exceptionally wide horizontal dispersion (for a larger “sweet-spot”), while holding the vertical dispersion extremely tight. And since our ribbon transducer diaphragm is virtually weightless, it reacts instantaneously to changes in the high-frequency content. Now, not only do you hear the dulcet tones of a flute, you hear the breath flowing through it... You hear the wind chimes bouncing off each other... You can hear the fingernails on the nylon strings of a classical guitar…
Another reason why ribbon tweeters are so supremely accurate is their ability to reproduce frequencies far above our normal hearing range. Even though we can’t hear these “ultrasonics,” the lower harmonics they generate do aff ect the way we experience the stereo image. For instance, a 30 kHz signal is too high for us to hear, but we can hear its first sub-harmonic (15 kHz), second sub-harmonic (7.5 kHz), and third (3.75 kHz), etc. All these sub-harmonics combine with the primary sound to create stunning realism. Power to the People It takes quite a bit more than just a “bulletproof” woofer and a high-tech ribbon tweeter stuck inside a fancy box to make a studio monitor of this class. It also takes power — and lots of it! But even more importantly, that power has to be matched to the individual high and low-frequency tranducers. While some of our competitors are content to stick whatever speakers they have on the shelf into haphazardly designed boxes and then strap on a one-size-fits-all amplifi er package, we build every single component from the ground up.
We pack 225-Watts of bi-amped technology (including a time- and phase-corrected active crossover) into every B3031A (110-Watts for B3030A), ensuring that you have the enormous power reserves you’ll need to drive them really hard.

Built on a Legacy

Our monitors have been so wildly successful that we’ve sold thousands upon thousands of them to some of the most critical ears on the planet — ears that demand the neutral sound of a true reference monitor. Ask any recording engineer and they will tell you that listening to a recording on just a single set of monitors doesn’t always paint an accurate picture of the mix. Since people listen to music at home, in their cars, on mp3 players, etc., it is critical your final mix be heard on as many sizes and types of speakers as possible. That’s the reason we created these smaller B1031A monitors, plus they make ideal rear channel speakers for surround sound applications.

Years of R’n’D

For the past three years our Research and Development team has been on a mission to create the “perfect” studio monitor. Our acoustic engineers tried a variety of transducers and enclosure designs, along with existing and emerging technologies. When all the dust settled, they chose to deploy an ultra-high resolution 1" dome tweeter and a long-throw 8" Kevlar-coned woofer in the B1031A.

But since all rooms are not the same acoustically, all TRUTH monitors come equipped to function in a wide variety of situations. Switches are provided to adapt the monitor’s lowand high-frequency characteristics for optimal performance specific to your listening environment.

What’s Up with the RCA Connectors?

Yes, it is a bit unconventional to put RCA sockets on a studio monitor — but why not? Now you can connect B1031A loudspeakers to your computer, mp3 player or television receiver for amazing sonic performance. For a truly versatile setup, use one of our USB audio interfaces (the UCA222, for example) to connect to/ from your computer. This convenient setup allows you to monitor your recording projects, and mix and master them, directly from your computer.

The Les Paul Studio '60s Tribute sticks to the script entirely, but its five worn '50s-style finishes reflect the wear of a well-played guitar and its meaty dual single-coil P-90 pickups give it a look akin to classics from the decade of the Les Paul's birth. Meanwhile, its fast SlimTaper™ neck profile reflects the feel of Les Paul Standards from 1960, the year before this legendary solidbody was deleted (temporarily!) from the Gibson lineup.

Fast and Furious, and Ready to Rock!

The Les Paul Studio ’60s Tribute’s Worn Gold Top, Worn Honey Burst, Worn Heritage Cherry Sunburst, Worn Ebony, and Worn White finishes nail the appearance of five popular “Standard” and “Custom” finishes from 1952-60, while its unbound body and neck and chambered mahogany body with carved maple top keep it in line with the simplicity that thousands of Les Paul Studio players already cherish.

A Nashville Tune-o-matic bridge, stopbar tailpiece and Kluson-style tuners keep it all rock-solid and resonant and its gnarly P-90 tone stays true to the Les Paul style. All guitars come protected in a black Gibson gigbag and include a Gibson owner’s manual. Check one out today at your authorized Gibson dealer, and get a chunk of that fast and furious ’60s mojo in your hands.

Body and Finish
A solid, carved maple top and chambered mahogany body give the Les Paul Studio ’60s Tribute the same tonewood combination that has been helping Les Pauls rock for nearly 60 years. Five authentic vintage-style finishes—Worn Gold Top, Worn Honey Burst, Worn Heritage Cherry Sunburst, Worn Ebony or Worn White—present a guitar with the look of a well played original, while the instrument’s unbound body and neck keep it in line with the popular Les Paul Studio line.

HARTKE HyDrive 115C Combo Amplifier

HyDrive 115c

As the HyDrive engineers were developing a series of combos, their intentions were to produce a powerful, versatile bass combo that could handle the task of playing in any genre of music. After years of development and assistance from professional performers like Stu Hamm, the result is a groundbreaking bass combo that provides players of all levels with power, tone and all the features necessary to shape a custom sound for any style of playing.

With 1 x 15-inch 300 watt HyDrive neodymium hybrid cone driver, the HyDrive 115c offers 250 watts of clean linear power. A massive toroidial transformer and internal protection circuitry help protect the amplifier and speaker, allowing the 115c the ability to handle virtually any passive or active bass with plenty of power to ensure your live performance is heard amidst the rest of your band.

On-board Hartke Shape Control and Bass Attack Overdrive allow you to sculpt your sound with unparalleled control. The ability to shape highs and mids or work in distortion also offers a range of options to ensure your HyDrive combo is perfect for any style of bass playing. The addition of a 7-band EQ and bass and treble shelving result in the most versatile combo available.

The test of time and heavy gigging were also two considerations when developing these combos. Understanding the importance of a roadworthy amp, the HyDrive combo cabinets are made of the highest quality plywood and utilize the same bracing and dado joinery found on the large HyDrive cabinets. The 115c also employs vinyl covering, a steel grill and steel corners for added protection when transporting your amp. Featuring the original Kickback™ design, the HyDrive 115c also allows for better projection of your sound while on stage. The resulting aesthetics of this combo fuse classic and contemporary styles for an original look that's both novel and elegant.

Because of their professional performance and pioneering design, the HyDrive bass combos are the only real choice for players intent on substantial power and beautiful tone.

The neck of FRM100TR is different than the previous RG shapes in the Paul Gilbert signature series. It's thicker and fatter - 22mm@1st fret and 24mm@12th fret - for a classic feel. The 3 pc mahogany/maple/mahogany neck offers the player a fat and tight sound with a solid grip for comfortable playability which Paul demanded.
The FRM100TR features DiMarzio® pickups favored by Paul. The bridge and neck positions feature DiMarzio® Injectors™, while the middle features a DiMarzio® Area '67™. They are designed with hum-cancelling construction to eliminate the noise but retain single-coil tone. These pickups have a warm, modern tone compared to vintage single coil pickups, and provide a clear, tight sound.
